Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What are your rates?
A: My rates are based on the length of the finished recording.
Q: How can I tell how long my script will be in audio form?
A: There are a few ways to do this.
One is to do a word count on your script. A rule of thumb that you can use to calculate is: about 180 – 200 words = 1 minute of audio.
Another is to read your script out loud with a timer to get an estimate of the length of finished audio that you’ll need.
Q: How fast can you complete the recording?
A: I can normally turn around a voicemail/phone system project within 1 day of receiving the script, often within hours. If I am not able to do this, I will respond and let you know what the expected turnaround time will be.
Q: What is your policy on revisions/retakes?
A: My rates include up to three revisions/retakes. It is very rare that more than three rounds of revision are needed to get the phone system sounding the way my client wants it. Please note, revisions and retakes only include parts of the script that need to be voiced and recorded again. If, for example, you simply find out while setting up your phone system that you need the same audio in AIFF format instead of WAV, this is provided free of charge and does not count as a revision/retake.
Q: Can you add on hold music?
A: Yes! I can add music of your choice, or make suggestions for royalty-free stock music. My rates for voicing the phone system don’t include the cost of music. However, there are many great options for on hold music available for budget-conscious clients.

Q: Will you write a script for me?
A: Because corporate phone systems are so individualized, it’s probably best if you write it yourself. However, I’ve provided some convenient templates to get you started that you may customize, modify, remix, and otherwise use for your phone system!
I do check scripts for basic English and ease of reading (at no extra charge) and will ask you if something doesn’t sound quite right.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: I can take payment by check, credit card, PayPal, and bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
Q: Do you do other types of voiceover work besides office voicemail and phone systems?
A: Yes – I voice explainer videos, corporate training and e-learning courses, tutorials, radio and TV ads, audiobooks, and all types of medical and scientific voiceover. For more info, see my website: SMVoice.info
